Community Tackles Bru’s Room
With seven locations in south Florida, Bru’s Room has a well-earned reputation for Buffalo wings, big screen sports and family-friendly environs. The brainchild of former Miami Dolphins linebacker Bob “Bru” Brudzinski and his partner, Wings ‘N Things founder Eddie Hauk, the company has been voted Best Sports Bar in Florida for 19 years running. Bru’s Room recently opened what promises to be their flagship location in Coconut Creek, FL.
Bob “Bru” Brudzinski
The upscale 20,000-square-foot purpose-built facility boasts five different rooms including a family dining area, outdoor covered dock, patio bar, kids ice cream parlor and private lounge, each outfitted with state-of-the-art audio and video systems based around Community Loudspeakers. The high-powered sound system in the main area features VERIS35-94 and VERIS32-94 full-range units, with bottom end handled by S-Series S-215S subwoofers. The outdoor lounge is served by four R.5 all-weather models, while CLOUD6 ceiling speakers cover the dining areas. Good sound was a priority, it was important to be able to fill the area with club-quality sound but not blast out the bartenders or the customers.
New Product Spotlight: ENTASYS Column Line-Array
ENTASYS is a new high-performance, three-way full-range column loudspeaker system that delivers true line-array performance in a compact package. Designed for permanent installation applications, including auditoria, airports and train stations, conference centers, houses of worship, stadium concourses and museums, ENTASYS offers high output and high power handling that outperforms comparable systems, utilizing multiple low, mid and high-frequency drivers for the most consistent, lobe free, coverage.
Each ENTASYS full-range column includes six low frequency neodymium drivers; eighteen 2.35-inch midrange drivers and six 7-inch long x 1-inch wide planar-coupled patent pending Compact Ribbon Emulator (CRE) high frequency elements. ENTASYS is designed to be modular, allowing the installer to use multiple ENTASYS full-range columns and low frequency extension columns to create extremely narrow focused vertical coverage previously only possible using powered, steered arrays. For additional low frequency extension, VLF-Series compact subwoofers are available to supplement ENTASYS systems.
ENTASYS full-range and low frequency columns come standard in black or white finishes, with available rigging accessories and an optional stand alone 750W auto-former (ENT-750T) for 70/100V applications. All ENTASYS systems and accessories are now in stock and shipping from Community’s Pennsylvania based U.S. headquarters.
Oregon Convention Center Outfits with Community

With a well-deserved reputation as one of America’s greenest cities, it’s not surprising that Portland’s Oregon Convention Center is among the nation’s most eco-friendly. But aside from its many innovative environmental achievements, the OCC also boasts one of the most technically advanced audio and video infrastructures of any US city. Fiber optics connect the Center’s one million square feet of space, with sophisticated digital signal processing enabling the area’s audio system to be divided in nearly endless combinations and configurations to accommodate nearly every conceivable event. The latest phase of their renovation includes nearly 200 Community R.5-66BTZ loudspeakers throughout the venue. The hall’s high ceilings required a medium-throw solution that could deliver the precise pattern control needed to allow multiple zones of coverage. The vertically mounted black R.5 units were ideally suited to the OCC’s wide open spaces and virtually disappeared once they were mounted in the ceiling, which was great from an aesthetic perspective.
Captain Dave’s Tech Tips: Avoid Excessive EQ
The classic “smile” EQ curve is actually smiling at your loss of control of the sound system and possibly the speaker’s imminent demise!
EQ’s are best used for cutting, not boosting the signal. Need more highs? Then reduce the bass frequencies. Need more lows? Reduce the highs. For more exacting control of your system equalization, consider using a parametric EQ rather than a graphic EQ.
A parametric EQ allows you to control the amplitude, center frequency and bandwidth of any given frequency; whereas a graphic EQ only allows control of the amplitude of the fixed center frequency at a fixed bandwidth.

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) Community exhibited at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Amsterdam with its Benelux distributor M-PRO earlier this month. ISE is one of Europe’s leading trade events for professional AV and electronic systems, showcasing the latest technologies for commercial and residential systems integration. M-PRO’s stand featured the new ENTASYS column line-array system and VLF compact subwoofers, which were met by an enthusiastic European audience. Also displayed were Community’s VERIS installation series, the new MX41E monitor, and our indoor/outdoor WET and R-Series systems.
